The Challenge

High-Stakes Loads, Hard-to-Reach Repair Data

“When you have a $3.5 billion load behind your truck, you definitely want to make sure it’s up to speed.”

— Luis Gonzalez, VP of Operations, Summers Trucking

Summers Trucking hauls concrete and steel to job sites and moves oversize loads for NASA. It carried the Roman Space Telescope before launch. Luis Gonzalez joined as VP of Operations in January 2026.

Luis found slow reports and gaps in work orders, inventory, and data entry. The old on-premise system also needed a move to the web. He compared several systems, and the owners let him decide.

The Solution

Clear Screens for the Shop, Plain Answers for Luis

“I equated when I first saw Squarerigger as like shopping on Amazon… It was like, okay, finally, it’s 2026. It looks like somebody got it right.”

— Luis Gonzalez, VP of Operations, Summers Trucking

Luis rates the Squarerigger screens as the easiest he has seen in any shop system. Navigation takes few clicks. That told him his senior technicians could make the change too.

The second reason was Riggs, the AI tool in Squarerigger. Luis types a question in plain words and gets the history he needs. The Motive integration adds the mileage and location of each truck.

The Results

Easier Days for the Shop and the Office

The AI Skeptic Who Now Asks for Prompt Tips

Nick, the fleet manager, had never used Word or Excel. The Squarerigger team trained him step by step. Now he uses Riggs and asks Luis how to write better prompts.

“You’ve made it so easy for us… It’s just made a huge difference. This could have been a huge failure.”

An Integration Without the Usual Trouble

Luis connected Motive with steps from the Squarerigger team. An early time zone problem was fixed, and mileage and location now update for each truck.

“It’s probably one of the easiest integrations I think I’ve ever seen.”

Techs Spend Less Time at the Screen

Before the switch, the techs saw the system as slow, tedious work. Now they scan parts into the work order, finish the entry fast, and go back to the trucks.

“It’s like butter for them… I don’t want to be sitting in front of a computer in a shop trying to figure out how I’m going to charge this… I want to be out there fixing something, right?”

Support That Continued After Day Three

Other vendors gave Luis three days of training and a ticket system for later help. Squarerigger gave the shop team more time and guided Nick step by step.

“I would say that that was the best I’ve ever experienced… Never had this level of support from any company that I’ve ever worked with.”

Riggs Spotlight

What Luis Asks Riggs

“I can finally go into my shop software system and ask it a question and get the information that I need versus, again, spending 20, 30 minutes trying to find something.”

— Luis Gonzalez

  • Fleet-wide trends. Brake repair history for all 2019 and older trucks, with cost, labor time, and job count.
  • Single-truck outliers. Transmission history for one truck, compared with trucks of the same model and age.
  • Brand comparisons. Repair records compared across the fleet’s Freightliner, Mack, and Peterbilt trucks.

From The Data

Repair History Showed a Driver Who Needed Training

Some trucks needed transmission repairs more often than others. Luis used Riggs to compare their repair history and found one common factor: the same driver. He did not shift correctly. Luis gave the finding to the safety and compliance coordinator, who set up retraining.

Luis’s Rules for Choosing Shop Software

Look for the Data

“Data and analytics is paramount in everything that I do.”

Check the Integrations

“You can take away my concerns and fears with integrations. Yeah, I’m requesting a demo.”

Trust a Solid Demo

“With a good solid demo or a couple of demos like I did with Jay, I can get a pretty good gist.”

What Comes Next

Past the Switch and Into the Data

Luis now builds a daily analytics routine for the shop, one of his main projects at Summers. The team uses Squarerigger and Riggs as the base for that work.

“We’re definitely headed in the right direction. And Squarerigger has certainly made that path much easier for us to take now.”
